This summer I was thinking about buying new shorts since my old ones were really old. I haven’t bought any shorts in years. I searched & searched for some ethical options. Some shorts were too short, some were not my style & the few that I loved were out of my price range. I couldn’t justify paying $50+ on a pair of shorts that I wouldn’t even be able to wear to work. That is why these culottes are the best things ever. They are so comfortable but also look nice. They are both stretchy and structured.
Over the summer I styled this piece with blouses and sleeveless shirts. I wore them with sneakers and dressed them up with some heels/booties. I never thought I was a culotte type of girl but these Everlane culotte’s have changed my mind. One thing that stood out to me with Everlane is their transparency with their costs and pricing. They lay it all out on their website so if you have time go check it out. They have some lovely basics! For this cold November sweater weather I have been eying these and this cashmere sweater. $100 cashmere sounds amazing right?? They have quickly become a favourite of mine and I might end up buying a dress as well.
One thing I am learning is to pay attention to how often I wear a clothing item. I have found that most of my old purchases were trendy or things I would only wear once or twice a year and then forget about it. I would then buy something new because I would feel like I had nothing to wear. Over the past two years I have made a handful of purchases and I love every item I bought. I have worn them often. It made the biggest difference when I stopped shopping impulsively. I now plan different outfits around an item before buying it. I picture it with the things I already own and that makes a lot of difference.
For the lovely summer weather we had in YYC I had paired my culottes with crop tops in different colours. I’ve worn it with heels to dress it up as well as running shoes for a casual look. 🙂
Unfortunately, it is now November and snowing here in Calgary so I have not had a lot of chance to wear my culottes. I did wear it for the #Fall10X10 challenge with Lee though.
